About Workforce50
Workforce50 sets a New Direction for the SeniorJobBank
Today, Workforce50 proudly takes the reins from the SeniorJobBank to boldly advance the mission of finding quality employment opportunities for America's older workers. With a new name, a new look and many new features, Workforce50 will carry on the legacy of the SeniorJobBank to find employers actively hiring workers over the age of 50. But members of its online community will see major changes focused on promoting employment of the over-50 population.
Founded in 1975, the SeniorJobBank has an interesting history and a mission more compelling today than when founded. The founder, E. Summers, originally launched a service in Orlando, Florida to match employers with older workers. His unemployed mother was the impetus for creating such a service and eventually the SeniorJobBank became well known, even beyond Florida. In 1999, the service moved to the Internet where it gained greater recognition and a National audience. Last year, NHC Group, Inc. acquired the web-based service, upgraded some features and proceeded to plan its future.
While planning for the SeniorJobBank, the publisher quickly learned that times had changed from the mid-70s and the baby boomers would now have a significant influence on the service. First and foremost, the feedback was clear. Not many people over the age of 50 identify with the label "senior". Job seekers over the age of 70 are only slightly more accepting of that label. Feedback from employers and recruiters was similar. So we went back to square one to align our name, the new Workforce50, with our community focus, the over-50 workforce.
As Workforce50 takes over from its predecessor, the direction is clear. The new Workforce50 is committed to helping the mature job seekers of America find meaningful employment opportunities.
Workforce50 is the Real Deal
The Internet is a funny world. It's a world where traffic and click-through rates are king and web sites battle it out for search engine placement. Popularity on the web translates, generally, into high visitor traffic and high click-through rates for advertisers. That, in turn, translates into revenues for the web site.
But how does a web site gain popularity? There is no guaranteed formula to build web popularity except to provide information and content that people want to read or view.
What brings visitors to Workforce50? Job postings from senior-friendly employers attract visitors. Visitors will find informative articles and interesting information related to job searching along with many other helpful web site features. But our core mission is to find and provide job listings from employers truly interested in hiring from the over-50 community.
All employers advertising on Workforce50 deliberately advertise with us to attract more mature job seekers for their job openings. That's the key. They deliberately advertise to our audience. This is an important distinction between Workforce50 and some other popular senior job sites.
Each and every job posting on our web site is from an employer who wants to hire an older worker. We don't need to label our employers as senior-friendly because they have specifically declared their interest by advertising with us. We do not aggregate our jobs from other sources or services and we do not "scrape" jobs from company web sites. Employers of all sizes from all industries come to us to get in front of our audience of over-50 job seekers. Our employers are looking for you!
Workforce50 is the real deal. We are working to bring a diversity of employment opportunities to our job seekers.
