The State of Louisiana is located in the southern region of the United States of America, cradled between the Gulf of Mexico and the States of Texas, Arkansas, and Mississippi. Salt, sulfur, and petroleum production in the state is among the highest in US. New Orleans is a major tourist attraction with the annual Mardi Gras festival, as well as other events, being held there.
According to the December 2008 data, the total civilian workforce of Louisiana totalled 2,110.8 thousand. Of this, about 5.5% were unemployed.
