Located in the Southeastern part of the United States of America, the State of Florida covers a total area of 65,754.59 square miles. Cattle and dairy products, together with commercial fishing of lobsters, crabs, and shrimp are important to Florida. In addition, many scientific research and defense companies are based in the state’s Cape Canaveral area. Florida also produces a significant amount of manufactured items like printed and published materials, transportation equipment, food products, and electrical and electronic equipments.

Florida’s civilian workforce totals 9,256.0 thousand people, of which about 8.6% are unemployed. As of January 2009, the non-farm market included the sectors of Trade, Transportation, and Utilities (20%), Professional & Business Services (14%), Education & Health Services (14%), Government (15%), and Leisure & Hospitality (12%).
